business builders

The industry is filled with people who are quote unquote in business. Being in business means different things to different people. From what I’ve seen online, these people fall into four categories and each have their own behaviors. I’ll explain.

Business Builders or Not?

There are three kinds of people who consider themselves  “in business”.  They are spammers, Ralph Kramdens, hobbyists and business builders. Each one has it’s own way of thinking and its own way of going about business. However, only one will be successful.

The Spammers

The first group are spammers. These are people who joined network marketing companies but have not been trained properly. Because of their of their lack of fast moneyexperience and training, they are doing what they know. And doing what they know is spamming, dropping links everywhere. Unfortunately, for the spammer, dropping links is not helping them build their businesses. Their links show up in other people’s inboxes, on other people’s timelines and even as comments on other people’s posts.

Not only is it annoying but it shows the spammer as the amateur that he is. In many cases, the spammer doesn’t know better but in many cases, he does and just continues that desperate behavior anyway. What he hopes to gain is a sale or a commission. And the more he doesn’t get either, the more he spams.

The Ralph Kramdens

get rich quickThe second group are the Ralph Kramdens. Remember Ralph Kramden? He was an overworked Brooklyn bus driver living pay check to pay check. He knew there was more to life than what he had but there weren’t many opportunities to make a change. So he was always looking for a “get rich quick scheme”. And whenever he found one, he would jump right in. He would get overly excited, so much so that he would use his last dollar to get in on the action.

Unfortunately for Ralph, the promise of getting rich quick never came to pass. Why? Because there is no such thing as getting rich quick. For people looking for the “get rich quick scheme”, there is no thought of the future. It’s all about what they can get right now…at this moment.

The Hobbyists

treat your business like a businessThe Hobbyists are people who joined a network marketing company but haven’t put in any effort to make it grow. It’s more like a hobby that they work on whenever they get a chance. If they make a sale or two, it’s fine. If not, that’s fine too. They’re not looking to build and expand. Their only interest is to have something else to do where they can make a few dollars now and then.

Spammers, Ralph Kramdens and Hobbyists are not looking for the financial future that can be theirs. They’re not looking for financial and time freedom, not looking to pay their children’s college tuition, not looking to pay off their mortgages. They’re not looking to travel or to give back to their communities. If they were, they would be building their businesses in a different way. The way the business builder does!

What Are Business Builders?

online business builderSo what are business builders? Business builders have signed up in a network marketing and have taken the reins of their business. They know they have to invest in their learning and receive training almost on a daily basis. They apply what they learn in the promotion of their business. They engage in daily mindset and personal development.

Business builders also know that they have to expand their network. This means reaching out and connecting with people, talking and listening to the issues, concerns and challenges they face. They provide solutions in the form of the content they create such as blog posts, videos, status updates, webinars and more.

Business builders know that they have to provide value to the marketplace so they can be recognized as credible and knowledgeable leaders.  They are aware of the fact that they need a list and must write to that list consistently. Most importantly, business builders know how to be and when to be what others need. These are some of the habits of a business builder. A business builder takes his work seriously because he, unlike the spammer, the Ralph Kramden and the Hobbyist, is looking for the ultimate prize – financial freedom.

Which One Are You?

So which are you? A Spammer, a Ralph Kramden, a Hobbyist or a Business Builder? If you’re a business builder, continue to engage in the activities that will result in a successful and prosperous business. If you’re one of the others but want to be a serious business builder, shift your behavior to the behavior of a business builder. It will give you a real opportunity to create the kind of lifestyle you and your family deserve.

To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart. Click To Tweet
