New to network marketing? Really new to marketing your business online? You might have heard that online marketing is another option for marketers who want to deviate from the traditional way of prospecting. There’s only one thing! How do you market online in a way that gets you the success you seek, especially if you’ve never done it before.
So what is online marketing? According to Neil Patel, entrepreneur and online marketing expert, “online marketing is any effort to spread the word about your company by using the internet to reach people.” Coreonlinemarketing.com explains it as “…using appropriate, available tools to offer relevant content that create value for communities of interest with the goal of driving sustainable revenue growth.”
From what you’ve probably already heard, marketing online is not about sharing your link all over the internet. It is, however, about using tools, strategies and methodologies to get the word out about your product or services.
Three Steps To Online Marketing – Step 1
There are three basic steps to online marketing. The first is build your audience. In order to build your audience you must first decide WHO your audience is. Who would be most likely in need of what you have to offer? If your products are skin care products, your audience may be people looking for a way to slow down the aging process. If your provide low cost electricity services, your audience may be those looking for a way to relieve their financial burdens. Marketing strategies may be what struggling network marketers want to help build their fledgling businesses. Everyone has a need for something. But not everyone has a need for what you have. So, it’s up to you to figure it out who your best customer is.
Once you decide that, you have to get their attention. You can do this with a lead magnet. A lead magnet is a piece of content that addresses a specific need of your audience. It could be in the form of a video, an eBook, a free training, a cheat sheet, a report, a checklist or more. More on lead magnets HERE. Since the purpose of a lead magnet is to attract attention, you want to make it is so irresistible, your audience cannot miss it or pass it up. If you’ve done your job, they will opt in.
Once you begin to get opt ins, they will then become subscribers to your email list or newsletter. Now you can start to engage your audience. You can send them regular emails filled with value. Some examples are free resources and tools, free training, webinar updates, your latest blog post and the blog post of others who may have written on a topic relevant to your audience. You can also send them motivational and inspirational videos and videos of industry leaders training, motivating or inspiring. Anything that will help them in the building of their business is considered value and would be ideal as an email. Remember that in whatever you share, speak so your audience will listen. Eventually, your audience will begin to know you, or at least feel like they know you, like you and what you provide and will naturally trust you.
This trust is critical if you are to sell to your audience. After the seeds of the know, like and trust factor have been planted and begin to sprout, you can email promotional content. Make sure you don’t send emails that sound salesy too often. Follow the 80/20 rule. Send 80% value and 20% promotional.
Remember, when you market online, the key is to connect with your audience, build a relationship, nurture the relationship and build up the trust. In this way, your audience will be willing to buy anything you have to sell and you’ll never run out of people to talk to. That’s one of the advantages of online marketing!
