- Ever heard of a “knock ’em dead” headline? This is the headline that instantly arouses curiosity in the prospect. After all, it is the first thing a prospect will see on your page. So it has to be exciting and interesting enough to make them want to continue. This headline must make a promise to the reader about some benefit in particular. It has to be evident of what you’re selling and what your offer is. The prospect must be able to visualize what it would be like having what you’re offering and there’s got to be some compelling element that makes the prospect decide to take immediate action. - Your call to action is the button you want the prospect to click. There have been numerous studies on this and what has been found is that people click more willingly when they know exactly what they’ll get in exchange for their contact information. Avoid ambiguous call to actions because they do not tell the prospect exactly what they will get. A few extra words can make all the difference. For example, instead of saying Sign Up, just a few more words like Sign Up For My Newsletter, can make a huge difference in the number of people who click. - You want your prospect to say “yes”. So you have to create the condition for the “yes” to happen. Generally speaking, people want to know what’s in it for them. They want to know exactly how this offer will benefit them before they spend a dime. It’s your job to, not only outline the benefits, but what will happen after the purchase is made. For example, if you’re selling garden hoses, you have to be able to tell the prospect the benefits of the garden hose. For example, it’s retractable, but also tell the prospect what will happen as a result of the purchase, for example, easier and quicker to put away. - Keep it simple but effective. Too much fluff will cloud your offer and have your prospect wondering if the overexuberant message matches the actual benefit.
